Tuesday Afternoons

Don't you remember those half-baked Tuesday afternoons?
Playing rubberfight  on creaky wooden benches, with lines of control.
Oh, how fun it was.
Until your partner brought a big, fat Staedtler and
Bullied you into defeat.
Yes, during those history classes which taught us of
The Golden Age of Chandragupta Maurya.
Until, Math broke our golden slumber.

Don't you remember those insipid Tuesday afternoons?
Spent watching pigs make love from the classroom window.
Our nasty introduction to sex.
Oh, those days of first crushes and platonic affection.
When the prospect of a new partner every year
Introduced us to the concept of luck and destiny.
Those Tuesday afternoons when you could only look at her
But never dare to speak.

Don't you remember those random Tuesday afternoons?
When we shared lunch boxes, and now memories.
When you cared little about how someone looked, spoke,
dressed and was. You just shared. With effortless ease.
A time, when Lays was Ruffles and Break was a chocolate.
A time, when Pepsi had that Lehar prefix.
And Energee was part of our staple diet.
A time too, when we were slightly better of, heart-wise.
Don't you think?

Ah, those Tuesday afternoons.
Bring back fond memories.
On yet another Tuesday afternoon.
