The Flamethrowers of Haridwar

Har-ki-Pauri, Haridwar

On the banks of the Ganga (Har-ki-Pauri in Haridwar) are a bunch of performers who also happen to be pandits. As the sun melts into the sacred backdrop, faith carrying diyas gather around the steps of the ghat. The three decade old, rusty loudspeaker commences the aarti.

What follows is a performance which alone deserves the generous donations that come their way in the name of faith.
